Howdy, long time no see. So, I completely remade the website from the ground up (except the splash script lel) and I'm quite happy with it even if it's a drastic change from the previous versions.
So, why did I decide to turn this site into a weird norton commander simulator? Well, at first I planned to make the V8 as a regular site with graphics and all that cool stuff. But, I got into a problem of just not knowing what exactly I wanted to make, so I started sketching in gimp:
More or less happy with the results I tried making it in html but I got hit with some personal issues which didn't let me have time or motivation to make the site. So, I left it as an unfinished idea.
After some time, I started to actually get work done on the site, I managed to get the header working through magic of 'fucking around and finding out' and duct tape:
Yet, it just not looked great. It was pretty much a mashup of multiple design themes trying to become one but just turning into an ugly mess. So, ultimately I decided to scrap it completely and start anew. After a couple of tries that ended pretty much as soon as they started, I eventually thought of attempting to make it themed like text based OS and software (eg. MS-DOS).
So, that's pretty much why it looks like a weird norton commander rip-off, but it looks good, so I ain't complaining. It was much easier to make this version not only because it was easier design-wise but just because I knew much clearly what I was aiming for unlike the previous attempts where I was making design changes while coding.
I hope you enjoyed toying with this site, I certainly enjoyed making it which makes it already worth it. Toodles!
